Wedding Dress Remodeling

Wouldn’t it be nice to find the dress you like in a bridal shop and then slip it on and it fits perfectly? Then, weddings wouldn’t be so hectic. Oh well, that seldom happens. That is why there are wedding dress remodelers.
This can be one of the most stressful parts of choosing a wedding dress – the fittings. You have found your dream dress, but that is only the first step. Traditionally, the wedding date is scheduled for several months from the date of engagement. The bride-to-be, you, will want to shop for a dress at boutiques, bridal shows and wedding dress warehouses right away.
During this time between events, a lot can change with your body. For instance, you might lose weight. This can change the shape of every part of your body. The dress that hung nearly perfect in the beginning may sag in some places. Also, your tastes may change. If you have inherited a wedding dress but don’t particularly like the design, there is help for you. With a few changes to the bodice, the hem or other portions of the dress your traditional heirloom can become a modern creation worthy of your tastes. Now, it’s time for the professionals to take over.
Finding a Wedding Dress Remodeler
You may have purchased your dress from a wedding dress warehouse. They have their own group of alteration specialists on staff but they may not know about remodeling work as well. You may want to look for your own person.
First, you want a professional. This will be someone who has performed alterations and remodeling work many times before. Usually, they will have a portfolio of before and after photos of dresses they have worked with. Also, they can show you examples of beadwork and alterations they have made before.
Ask about a timeline. Usually even for simple alterations, remodeling a dress takes at least six solid weeks before the wedding to complete. Trying to get it done closer to the date, like two weeks or less will be difficult and double your alteration costs.
So, start early. One thing that you can ask at the shop where you want to purchase the dress is about the possibility of remodeling. There must be enough material in the dress to take it in, let it out or cut and redo the bodice, hem, sleeves or train. A seamstress can add fabric but that can prove more difficult to match fabric and color.
Bring pictures. If you find a few dresses that you like, you can photograph them and take them to a professional wedding dress remodeler. He or she can tell you if they can create your vision from the shots you have brought them.
Are you looking to change your wedding gown? There are professionals who can perform minor and major alterations to match your visions for the perfect day.
